How to get the most out of your broccoli (and other veggies) !

Broccoli, we all know it is good for us but why?

Well apart from the obvious antioxidants that fruit & vegetables normally offer, the cruciferous family of vegetables contain indole-3-carbinol which upon digestion helps form 3,3′-Diindolylmethane (aka. DIM). DIM is one of the best supplements for promoting healthy estrogen metabolism and this is of benefit to all individuals interested in either muscle-building or general health. Whether we take DIM as a supplement or not, we should still try to obtain as many natural nutrients and enzymes from our food as possible and this is where vendor choice and food preparation play an important role.

You know that broccoli that you get from your big chain supermarket? If you attend the supermarket at the right time and you will see the broccoli thawing from a near frozen state. Charles Poliquin’s article below breaks down why this is not desirable and also gives advice to preparation.
